Awesomeness!

It’s going to be awesome! Our all time favorite indie band from NOLA is coming to perform at Coco and Duckie! That’s right Youth Sounds will be doing two sets for us! So mark your calendar for May 5th, 2012! Youth Sounds will perform at 11:30 am and at 1:30 pm  in front of Coco and Duckie!

A little bit about Youth Sounds….

The peaceful ambience that is Youth Sounds comes from an innovative brother and sister duo that understands who they are and what they have to offer. Hailing from the streets of New Orleans, Erika and Federico Mejia are self-taught musicians that gained experience in church choirs and developed their crafts by remaining artistically stylish.

The combination of Erika’s soft and whispery voice gliding over Federico’s piano leads and house backbeats on their debut EP “The Bit Parts” expresses the aptitude this duo possesses. Youth Sounds feels familiar and inviting in their effort to bring fresh melodies during hard times.

Youth Sounds’ elegant appeal and dreamlike moodiness branch from their appreciation for art and film. Encompassing these ideals in their music captures the essence of purity in their craft. Take part of Youth Sounds’ journey at www.youthsounds.com

In addition to the awesomeness that is Youth Sounds a TrollBead Trunk Show will also be running! There will be three different specials to choose from PLUS all Trollbead rings are 50% off!! So come in and say hi this coming Saturday!

Cheers Lovelies,

Duckie

Book Love #1

This is a series I am dubbing ‘Book Love’. All the Coco and Duckie Girls adore reading, though we wish there were more hours in the day so we had time to catch up on all of the books we have started!

I just completed ‘All These Things I’ve Done‘ by Gabrielle Zevin. It was a lovely little piece of YA Fiction! I would have finished it in one sitting if I had the time! The book takes place in NYC about 100 years in the future, in a world where chocolate and coffee are illegal! The book follows Annie, the oldest daughter of the biggest (departed) crime boss in the America’s! And guess what they deal? Chocolate.

Not only is the cover art pretty sweet but the actual book is embossed to look like a bar of chocolate! I love the attention to detail!!!

I had the most fabulous cappuccino to go along with the first 15 chapters or so, the barista even made me a little heart out of the foam!

I recommend on your next laze about day,  grab a big cup of Jo (or hot chocolate), prop up your feet and get swept up into the world of the coffee and chocolate trade!

           Happy Reading!

xoxo Duckie

Happy St.Patricks Day! I wish you all wear green and find a bit of gold (even if it is of the chocolate variety)!

We Love #1: Audrey Hepburn

Audrey!

Not only was she chic and utterly enchanting on the silver screen but she was genuinely a lady!  We have compiled a little list of Audrey love here on our blog! We even started a board on pinterest entirely devoted to Miss Hepburn! Coco and I both think she is the bee’s knees!

I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick. I believe in pink. I believe happy girls are the prettiest girls. I believe that tomorrow is another day, and… I believe in miracles.

-Audrey Hepburn

For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.

-Audrey Hepburn

If I’m honest I have to tell you I still read fairy-tales and I like them best of all.

-Audrey Hepburn

Audrey’s legacy is a never ending source of inspiration.. So much so, that we’ve quoted her on our brand new store t-shirts!

It’s practically impossible to choose a favorite film that Audrey Hepburn starred in. They are all consummate classics! Coco has been living under some sort of cinematic rock and she just saw “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” for the first time last month. Don’t worry, she loved it.

Duckie’s Top 3 Audrey Films:

1. Charade

2. How To Steal A Million

3. Roman Holiday

Coco’s top 3 Audrey films:

1. Funny Face

2. Sabrina

3. They All Laughed

Until next time,

Pretty Pretty Polish!

tumblr_lh967b959d1qhyhg1o1_500

It’s the holidays and doesn’t that just call for a little extra sparkle? I have been addicted to Deborah Lippmann polish for a while, but her glitter colors have me completely and utterly obsessed. The new holiday sparkle shades especially!

Basically if you use ‘Fashion’ as a basecoat, all the glitters look fantastic, especially ‘Boom Boom Pow’!

I have decided that instead of a new dress for every holiday gathering this year, I’m going to utilize that LBD (little black dress) that is in the back of my closet, accessorize with one of those glitzy skinny belts from J.Crew or XXI, black heels, red lipstick and some of Lippmann’s new Red Glitter polish and I’m good to go!

Have a happy happy manicure!

Duckie

Baby it’s Cold Outside

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and it’s actually beginning to look a lot like christmas! Puns aside, isn’t it great to have a chill in the air, or in my case day before yesterday a frozen car in the parking lot? Needless to say all of the girls at Coco and Duckie are humming carols and sipping cocoa counting down the days till Christmas!

I have become rather proficient at wrapping christmas goodies for all my friends and family! It has been so fun this year getting creative with brown paper and one style of ‘real’ wrapping paper! I utilized paper doilies and cream colored crochet thread to embellish my packages! I found some great inspiration of ‘pressie’ on Pinterest! Here are a few images that helped me get creative this year!

Happy wrapping!!!

xoxo,

Duckie
