Our friends at Stardust Pastry in Austin recently designed a dessert bar around the wonder of books and we can't help but wish that we were able to help 'dispose' (wink wink) of all the goodies that they baked! Below are a couple photos from their event! To see more photos and the desserts in detail go to

Hello! My name is Marlowe, I've known the girls at
Coco & Duckie for a while now and they have invited me to write a blog series as a guest author!
I had the immense pleasutre of tagging along to meet Savannah Hoffman's jewelry designer, Felicia Akop! Felicia, a Dallas native, was in Austin when we met her at the uber cute Big Top Candy on SOCO. Felicia waltzed into Big Top sporting leopard print toenails, Betsey Johnson wayfarers and gold tinsel woven into her hair. She is the embodiment of her work. Her jewelry ranges from vintage chandelier crystals with images inside, vintage keys to a rhinestone studded pendant bearing the King of Rock 'n Roll, Elvis, himself!
Felicia began making jewelry in high school , starting with matchbook cars and tiny pterodactyls! Madeline said, "I always find it hard to describe Felicia's work to people, because the best way to describe it is, 'It's Felicia!" and she couldn't be more right!
Some of her influences include Betsey Johnson "Betsey's really just 'anything goes." and both "Littlle" Edie Bouvier Beale and her mother, Edith Bouvier Beale "The Edie's really just did their own thing"
Her jewelry line is named after her great great grandmother, "The Jewish Rodeo Queen of Texas" she traveled all over Europe!
Felicia's work was also used in a recent photo shoot for the band Youth Sounds
(Whom I greatly love and adore) See Felicia's take on Chandelier earrings?
Keep an eye out for some of my other friends doing blog posts in the future. Until then, Au revoir!
“If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairy tales”
Summer upon us, so find some shade a tall glass of lemonade and a book to fall into! At Coco and Duckie we love LOVE love fairy tales! From the Brothers Grimm to Madame d'Aulnoy we adore them all!
Peter Pan retold by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson with the beautiful art of Disney's Mary Blair!
For more than a dozen years, an unassuming, quiet-spoken woman dominated Disney design. The stylishness and vibrant color of Disney films in the early 1940s through mid-1950s came primarily from artist Mary Blair. In her prime, she was an amazingly prolific American artist who enlivened and influenced the not-so-small worlds of film, print, theme parks, architectural decor, and advertising. At its core, her art represented joyful creativity and communicated pure pleasure to the viewer. Her exuberant fantasies brimmed with beauty, charm, and wit, melding a child's fresh eye with adult experience. Blair's personal flair comprised the imagery that flowed effortlessly and continually for more than a half a century from her brush. Emulated by many, she remains inimitable: a dazzling sorceress of design and color.
A staple in the fairy tale world. My personal favorite!
This is a magnificent book series about the brothers Grimm's descendants......the Sisters Grimm! They live in a town inhabited entirely by fairy tale characters and creatures. Prince Charming is the Mayor, the Big Bad Wolf is not so bad and Snow White is the 2nd Grade Teacher (because she's so good with little people)! The series follows the girls as they solve various mysteries that happen in Ferryport landing. It will make for a magical read for the young and young at heart! We carry the entire series of Sisters Grimm along with fairy tales illustrated by Mary Blair at Coco and Duckie!
I hope you find your perfect summer read!

We will see you at the park!
No really, it is! Madeline @ Coco and Duckie recently dip dyed her hair turquoise! She has us all wanting perfectly pastel ends!
It is actually very easy to do! Madeline dip dyed my hair two weeks ago and I'm in love with my new do! Unfortuantly I don't have any pics of my actual hair but I have found some super fun images that represent the essence of our dip dye style!
We used Manic Panic hair products when we dip dyed our hair. Manic Panic's bleach and color were really gentle on my hair, so there was no dryness after bleaching! The entire process only took about 2 hours to bleach and color.
Everybody's doing it.....
Well it's been lovely, till next time!
